A bizarre chase landed a 35-year-old man behind bars. An officer said, on Tuesday, he saw a green Hyundai run a stop sign at Berry and Sheppard Road. The officer attempted to perform a traffic stop, but the vehicle sped up. Police said West then stopped at the intersection of College and Avenue D. The officer asked West to get out of the vehicle, but he then sped up again. Spikes were then placed at the intersection of Third Street and Avenue D but officers said West drove over a curb and around the spikes. Officers eventually stopped West at Floyd and Fifth Street. Police said they found a two year old in the car. They also said they removed two prescription bottles from West's front pocket and beer from the driver seat. West is charged with evading arrest, DWI with a child in the vehicle and endangering a child.
