M.E.'s Office In Question

Wichita County Commissioners will be taking up an issue Monday that we first brought you several weeks ago. Newschannel6 first told you of possible violations of law by the Wichita County Medical Examiners office. A watchdog from Austin raised several questions about the legality of the office. We put the questions to Wichita County Sheriff David Duke and Wichita County Judge Woody Gossom. Both said they felt the law was being followed, but would look into the allegations.

Monday Commissioners will discuss closing the M.E.'s office and establishing the Office of Death Investigator to assist Justices of the Peace.

Commissioners will go into a closed session before a public discussion will be held. The court meets at 10am Monday morning in the Wichita County Courthouse.
