UPDATE: Wichita County Closes M.E.'s Office

Tuesday, Wichita County Commissioner's decided to close the Medical Examiner's Office, immediately. County Commissioners re-convened Tuesday and decided to re-establish the Office of the Death Investigator to assist Justices of the Peace, effective immediately. It's a story you first saw on NewsChannel6.

A "Watchdog" in Austin raised questions that the Wichita County M.E. office was operating in violation of the law.

Monday after Commissioners met in a closed session with attorneys, they called a second session today to get more answers to questions they had. County Judge Woody Gossom told Newschannel 6 on Monday that the M.E.s office was not the problem. He said the problem was more with procedures and they needed to be cleaned up.
