MSU Soccer Roundup: November 7th

Reported by: Charlie Bartlett

Good news and some bad news.

The #2 Mustangs defeated West Texas A&M Sunday afternoon in Canyon, TX closing out the regular season with the Lone Star Conference Championship and a undefeated record. It's the second time in school history the Mustangs have accomplished this goal.

MSU got goals from Dean Lovegrove in the 68th minute and VcMor Eligwe in the 78th minute.

The MSU men finished the regular season with a 16-0-2 record. The Mustangs await their destiny in the NCAA Division II South Central Region.

However, it wasn't a day of celebration for the #19 Lady Mustangs.

MSU entered the LSC Championship against Abilene Christian coming off their 1st LSC regular season championship since 1998, but they couldn't sweep the conference this year.

Abilene Christian defeated MSU 2-0 in the final, after a scoreless first half.

They fell short, but their seasons not over yet. The Mustangs must now await official selection into the NCAA Division II postseason set for Monday night. A public watch party is set for 6 p.m. at Buffalo Wild Wings.

MSU finishes the regular season at 16-3.
