Rider Advances in Class 4A Playoffs

The Rider Raiders jumped all over the Caprock Longhorns Friday night at Memorial Stadium, jumping out to a 28-0 first-half lead and cruising to a 35-14 win.

Deron Royster scored three touchdowns for the Raiders, who got on top on a touchdown pass from Malcolm Carter to Tevin Aldridge in the first quarter, then added to their lead with a second-quarter touchdown run by J.T. Barrett.

Royster then added two of his touchdowns before Caprock answered that with short touchdown run by Bustos Addison before the half.

Rider advances to face El Paso Andress, who beat Caputillo 35-28 Friday night.

No site has been announced yet.

In Class 2A Division II, Henrietta dropped a low-scoring contest with Hamilton, 6-0. The Bearcats' season ends with a 3-8 record.

In Class A Division I, Quanah went into snowy Amarillo's Dick Bivins Stadium, and after building a 30-14 lead, held on for a 37-27 win against West Texas High School out of Stinnett. They will face Sundown in the Area round.

In Class A Division II, Archer City ran all over Crosbyton 47-0 to set up a meeting in the Area round with Bronte, who had a bye.

Moving to Six-Man, in TAPPS Area Round action Notre Dame beat Fulton Academy 72-43 in Heath. They'll face either Lubbock Christ the King or Seguin Lifegate Christian in the Regional round.

In UIL Six-Man Division I, Throckmorton took on May and it was never close, the Greyhounds winning 52-0 at halftime. They'll face Saint Jo in the second round after the Panthers beat Avalon.

Knox City put up a C-note on previously-undefeated Blanket, winning 101-56. They'll face either Walnut Springs or Irving Universal in the next round.

Crowell fell to Follett in Wellington, shut out 46-0 to end their year at 6-5.

In Six-Man Division II, Bryson's Cowboys fell to Trinidad 80-38 to end their season with a 6-5 mark.

And Harrold fell to Milford 52-6, finishing 7-4.
