Northeastern State scored first, but #25 Midwestern State scored more.
Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium, the Mustangs finished up their regular season on a good note with a 28-8 win over Northeastern State.
The River Hawks took an 8-0 lead, but that was their only score of the day. MSU rallied back for 28 unanswered points for a Senior Day win.
MSU's Lester Bush ran for 149 yards and two touchdowns, while Brandon Kelsey took off for 99 yards on 10 carries and one touchdown. He also completed 8-of-12 passes for 68 yards, who started his first collegiate game in place of injured starter Zack Eskridge.
The Mustangs offense was consistent all game especially on the ground, rolling up 325 rushing yards.
Midwestern State improved to 8-3 on the season and they're still in contention for the NCAA Division II Playoffs. They await their selection into the post-season, which will be announced on ESPN News Sunday afternoon.
If the Mustangs aren't selected for their 4th trip to the postseason, they will most likely be the Lone Star Conference representative at the 2nd annual Kanza Bowl.
