They started out strong, but couldn't finish the job.
Saturday night at the Kay Yeager Coliseum, the Wichita Falls Wildcats dropped a two goal lead as Amarillo stormed back for a 6-3 win.
The Wildcats controlled the first period with a 2-0 advantage on power play goals from Mikhail Sentyurin and Dakota Klecha, but didn't have the fire power they did in the 2nd and 3rd period.
Amarillo came out red hot in the ensuing periods, scoring 3 unanswered goals in the second. They kept it going in the 3rd as well. Putting three more goals in the net.
Despite the loss, Wichita Falls still leads the season series over Amarillo at 6-3.
Wildcats are currently second place in the NAHL South Division with a 13-6-2 record. They trail the Texas Tornado by 7 points.
