Annex Escapee Strikes A Plea Deal

A man who escaped from the Wichita County Jail Annex strikes a plea deal in court today.

Devontae Deshaun Combs appeared in 30th district court this morning before Judge Bob Brotherton.

Prosecutors say Combs is sentenced to serve 10 years for escape, ten years for possession of a controlled substance and ten years for assault family violence.

He is also sentenced to ten years for violation of probation for possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence. Prosecutors say the sentences will run concurrently, meaning at the same time.

Combs escaped from the Wichita County Jail Annex in August with three other men.
He also helped expose a crack in the state jail system.
And officials say it can't be easily fixed.
