Former Burk Officer Indicted On Felony Charges

A former Burkburnett Police Officer has been indicted on felony charges.

Newschannel 6 was in the District Clerk's Office as a grand jury indictment against 46-year-old John Allen Klenk was unsealed.

The indictment says that in March of 2008 Klenk hid or destroyed a rifle that was part of a poaching investigation.

The charge in the 30th District Court is on a 3rd degree Felony of Tampering with Physical Evidence. Records indicate Klenk was booked into the Wichita County Jail. He was released on Nov 19 on a $25,000 bond.

Newschannel 6 is working to uncover more information about this charge. We have stopped by the home at the address listed for Klenk. There was no answer at the door and messages have not been returned at the time of this writing. Nor have message left with the Burkburnett Police Department, or the Wichita County District Attorney's Office.

The Texas Attorney General's Office is researching the case and we expect to learn more from that Office in the coming days. Check back to this page for instant updates.
