Working to Help Those Less Fortunate

With the holiday season getting kicked-off, Winter weather is starting to move in. When the cold wind blows, most of us reach for a jacket. Some, however, do not have access to such a simple necessity.

Newschannel 6 is partnering with Faith Mission to help fill that need. "Number one, Newschannel 6 has a responsibility to the community, so anything we can do to help the community out, I think is very important," said Mike Taylor, General Manager of Newschannel 6, Texoma CW and Telemundo.

"This is the 6th year we've been doing this coat drive and I think its important that we try to give back to those that are less fortunate than we are," said Taylor. But helping those less fortunate requires the entire community pitching in and digging through those old coats. "Go through your closets, go thru those old chests and drawers and those things that you have laying around that probably haven't been looked at in 5 or 6 or 8 years," he said.

The drive is not just for coats. Newschannel 6 is also collecting blankets and anything else that might keep someone warm when the cold wind blows. "Pull out something that's good quality, bring it to the TV station let us help those that are a little less fortunate let's make it a good holiday season for everybody," said Taylor.

If you have any garments you would like to donate, bring them by the Newschannel 6 Studios during business hours. We are located at 3601 Seymour Hwy. We will make sure they get to Faith Mission and given to those in need.
