Big Brother Big Sisters: Changing Young Lives

It's clear: Camri Jackson looks up to her Big Sister Brenda Scott.

They've been a match for a little more than year, and have developed quite a bond.

"She helps me with reading, math and spelling," said Jackson.

"I will never forget the Wednesday the light came on and she understood the ending and we both jumped up and hugged each other and like such a success," said Scott.

Since they started spending time together Camri's grades have improved.

Every Wednesday Brenda and Camri go to the park, go to church or Camri's favorite, make muffins.

They also like to spend time at the YMCA where Brenda is a teacher.

"I'm trying to teach her that at her age if she could make exercise part of her week it would be a good habit to get in to," Scott

By the end of this year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wichita Falls will have matched 100 children in our community to bigs just like Brenda."

"I can honestly say you get back so much more than you give," Scott.

She says you don't have to change your lifestyle to spend time with your little. Just make them part of your every day routine.

This Thanksgiving, Brenda and Camri are just grateful they've found each other.

"I'm glad she's in my world because I didn't know a lick about girls all I had was boys and she's bringing a lot of different stuff to my life," said Scott.
