Reported by: Charlie Bartlett

Football in December!

Five Texoma teams will get their shot next week as the Texas High-School Football Playoffs move along.

We start in Class 4A Division I with the Rider Raiders. Rider defeated the Birdville Hawks 24-10 in Regionals. Deron Royster led the team with a career-best 231 rushing yards and three touchdowns as the Rider offense racked up 349 total yards on the day. Rider's now 9-4 on the season and headed to the state quarterfinals.

ROHO gets a second shot at district rival and state ranked #2 Denton Ryan. They won the coin flip and will be the host at C.H. Collins Athletic Complex 2 pm this Saturday. The Raiders beat Rider 35-14 earlier in the season.

Moving to Class 2A Division II and the Holliday Eagles. Their goal was December football, Merry Christmas! The Eagles defeated Sanford-Fritch 21-6 in Regionals. Tyler Cole was all over the field as the senior tailback gained over 150 yards on 20 carries.

Holliday will be making its sixth appearance in the state quarterfinals under Head Coach Terry Wolf and their first since 2006. The Eagles ride an 8 game winning streak into the state quarterfinals. They match up with 9-3 Idalou. This game is 2 pm Saturday at Bulldog Stadium in Abilene. The Eagles haven't been to the state semi-finals since 1996.

Let's move down to Class 1A Division II. The Windthorst Trojans continue to conquer. They defeated Archer City 28-20 at Memorial Stadium in part two in the Battle of Archer County. Ty Duncan led the way for the Trojans with four touchdowns on 71 yards rushing. The win gave them their 11th straight win. Windthorst on their way to the state quarterfinals against a very familiar opponent.

The Trojans get the red hot Munday Moguls. Munday coming off a huge comeback win over Hamlin in Regionals at Abilene Wylie's Bulldog Stadium. The Moguls were down 13-7 into the final quarter, but then all of a sudden they exploded scoring 28 points. Dee Paul led the attack with 263 yards and two touchdowns on the day. Munday now 10-2 on the season.

So here's the rematch, Windthorst and Munday. The Trojans dominated the Moguls back on October 29th, 41-12. This state quarterfinal is Friday 7:30 pm at Buckaroo Stadium in Breckenridge.

Last but not least, 6-Man football and the #3 Throckmorton Greyhounds. They're one game away from the state championship. Greyhounds coming off a 56 to 8 beating of Walnut Springs. They get 10-3 Aquilla in the state semi-finals
