Texoma Man Celebrates 100 Years

Family, friends and well wishers gathered Saturday to celebrate the 100th birthday of Austin Carr.

Carr has spent every one of his 100 years right here in Texoma.  Living the first half of his life in Megargel, and the second in the Falls.

A feisty Carr said he's not only been waiting for this day, but is looking forward to many more.

"I have looked forward to that time," he said, "and it has come and it has gone. I hope there will be many more happy days left."

Carr was born Dec. 7, 1910 in rural Newport Community, between Megargel and Olney.  He is the third of eight children.

Carr maintained a family farm from the early 1940's to the 1960's and eventually became a realtor here in Wichita Falls.
