Family Wins Car Free for a Year

One Texoma family has a new Honda Civic to drive for a year – free. They won the use of the car in Patterson Honda's TXT 2 Win contest. To enter, contestants sent a text message. There were 8 weekly winners who each got a $100 prize.

The promotion is part of the grand opening celebration for Patterson Honda. General Sales Manager Anthony Patterson says he is glad to be able to hold the contest. "Its pretty exciting, we have a great client base here its nice to be able to do that for one of our clients here," said Patterson.

"I texted one day and they called me two days later saying I had won the drawing," said contest winner Terry Baird. Baird plans to let his college-aged daughter use the car. "She'll be graduating in a year and a half, so that would almost take her to graduation," said Baird.

For one of the other weekly winners, Paula Burt, this was not the first chance her family had to win a car from Patterson. "In 1981, my mother came and signed up. Mother couldn't even drive because she had been diagnosed as legally blind but she went ahead and signed," remembered Burt. Her family won that contest and her father drove two different cars, free for a year as a result.

The 8 weekly winners each drew numbers from a hat to determine in which order they would select from 8 cases. Each case contained a $100 bill, but only one had the key to the Honda Civic. One by one the contestants selected a case. Terry Baird got the last one of the 8. It contained the key.

The Baird family was happy with the win. "This is exciting," said Baird. The contest was also exciting for Patterson Auto Group CEO Paul Tigrett. "Its just been a real fun week, this is the culmination of that," he said.

The new Patterson Honda lot is located near the other Patterson franchises, on Jacksboro Hwy, just west of Central Freeway in Wichita Falls.
