Chris Hagan poured in an MSU-record 50 points to lead the MSU Mustangs to a 91-82 win over Cameron in Lawton Monday night.
Hagan shot 17 of 26 from the floor, including 8 three-pointers, and went 8-10 from the free throw line to break the school's 48-year-old record, shared by Roger Ellis and Earl Beechum.
Ellis scored 46 points against McMurry in 1962, then Beechum equaled it in the 1966 NAIA National Tournament against Monmouth.
Hagan scored 21 in the first half, then 29 in the second as the Mustangs held off a late Cameron rally to improve to 7-1 on the season.
They'll face NAIA Northwest Oklahoma St. on Thursday at D.L. Ligon Coliseum at 7:30 PM.
Earlier, the Women barely scored as many points in their entire game, falling to the Aggies 67-51. The Mustang women scored just 12 first-half points, getting a team-high 11 points from Savannah Carver and Nolisha Markham. Rebekah Cluley added 10 for the Mustangs (2-5).
They will continue LSC play against Texas Womans University Saturday at 2PM under the Dome.
In other action Monday night, the Rider Lady Raiders opened up District 4-4A play with a 53-33 home win over Little Elm. Jennifer Sissel led the Lady Raiders (11-3, 1-0) with 14 points, while Sammie Hislop added 13.
