Supreme Court Rejects Shell Appeal In Okla. Suit

Shell Oil Company will have to pay nearly $54 million as part of an Oklahoma lawsuit.

The US Supreme Court has refused to hear the company's appeal that the award for punitive damages to oil and gas lease-holders in Stephens County violated the company's constitutional rights.

The lease-holders accused Shell of failing to pay them profits they were due from the oil and gas taken from the land.
