High School Basketball Roundup: December 14

There was a Top-5 Matchup Tuesday night in Newcastle as the #4 Ladycats hosted 5th-ranked Throckmorton.

The Lady 'Hounds led 19-10 after the first quarter but from then it was all Newcastle. Haley Kramer scored 22 points to lead the Ladycats to a 54-35 win. Shelby Ash scored 20 points to lead the Lady 'Hounds.

In the boys' game that followed, #4 Throckmorton won their first game since getting all of their players back from football, 55-38.

In other action, the Wichita Falls High School Lady Coyotes opened District 4-4A play by going down to The Colony in search of their first-ever win against the Lady Cougars, but came up just short in a 53-48 loss. Carolyn Taylor led the way with 18 for Old High, whose record falls to 10-4 (0-1).

The Vernon Lions hosted Hawley and got a 75-46 win behind 21 points from Tate Methvin. Chavaz Jackson and Dillon Perez each added 11 for the Lions.

In Iowa Park, the Lady Hawks hosted Sanger and a late rally fell short, 44-38.

In a double-header in Archer City, Holliday's girls won 49-38 and the Eagles won 60-34.

In Petrolia, the Lady Pirates hosted Bowie and took a 45-31 win. Then the Boys hosted Saint Jo and fell 47-32.
