Second Dog Quarantined in Mauling Attack

The second dog involved in a vicious mauling in Wichita Falls has been quarantined. That information was confirmed by Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health Director Lou Franklin Saturday.

Animal control had been trying to capture the pit bull since it and another pit bull attacked and mauled 48-year-old Melvin Lewis Tuesday night.  Animal control now has both dogs under quarantine.

Franklin said they were unable to verify the dogs had been vaccinated for rabies.

Lewis was so badly injured in the attack, he was airlifted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.  As of Friday, Lewis was listed in guarded condition.
