Senate Approves Overhaul to Food Industry

The senate has passed new legislation that would completely change the food industry, again.

Lawmakers say this measure would empower the government to increase inspections of food processing facilities and force companies to recall tainted food.

This is the second time senators passed the bill.

The first round, lawmakers hit a snag when they mistakenly included tax provisions that are by law supposed to originate in the house.

The $1.4 billion bill would also place stricter standards on imported foods.
