Big changes are in store for taxi cab regulations in Wichita Falls.
This morning city councilors approved a new ordinance that will change the way cab franchises operate.
The new ordinance will make five major changes.
One would remove the limit on the number of cabs for one company and implement a sliding scale for annual fees paid to the city..
It would also strengthen inspection requirements and give city inspectors the right for random checks.
The other big change would give the city the right to enforce a civil penalty for taxi ordinance violations.
Also the ordinance extended the life of the cabs.
From eight years to ten and for hybrids from ten to 12 years.
