Arsonists Facing More Charges

Two arsonists already sentenced to life in prison are facing new slew charges.

A Henderson County grand jury indicted one of the men on three arson counts and the other on two counts. The County District said bonds of $500,000 were set against each defendant.

Both were sentenced earlier this week in a neighboring Smith County after pleading guilty to setting the church fires.

Last year 10 churches were damaged or destroyed in East Texas, which lead to a federal arson investigation.

Three churches were burned in Athens in Henderson County, two in Van Zandt County and five in Smith County.
