The Wichita Falls High School Coyotes opened their season in the Justin Northwest tournament against Birdville. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw, with Carlos Rodriguez scoring the lone goal for the Coyotes, who continue play Friday.
The WFHS girls also opened their season Thursday, taking on West Mesquite in the Arlington tournament. The Lady Coyotes started the season strong with a 5-1 win. Payton Fookes scored two goals and had two assists, while Loudell Crumpler added one of each. They'll continue the tournament Friday at 5:45 against Dallas Hilcrest.
The #2 Rider Raiders also opened play Thursday in the Frisco Invitational against #9 North Dallas and tied 1-1. Jonathon Munoz scored for the Raiders.
The Burkburnett Lady Bulldogs opened up against the Weatherford JV in the Sargent-Zahirniak Memorial in Crowley and rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit for a 3-2 win. Riley Jalowy scored the winning goal off a corner kick as the final horn sounded. Morgan McShan and Hannah Galbraith also scored for the Lady Bulldogs, who will play in the tournament semifinals Friday at 6 PM against Joshua, who beat Fort Worth Southern Hills on penalty kicks.
