Police Pursuit Ends With Suspect Dead

A car chase in Archer County reached a deadly end after driver 49-year-old William David Matteson took his own life Sunday morning. The Archer City police chief tells Newschannel 6 officers pulled over a suspected drunk driver just before 2:00am Sunday after the say the driver weaving around the road.

The officer completed a background check and discovered the Matteson had four outstanding felony warrants. Police say that's when Matteson took off in his car and led officers on a chase. After a short pursuit, he finally pulled over, but refused to get out of the car. That's when police say he fatally shot himself.
