Former Hardeman Co. Deputy Arrested

A former Hardeman County Deputy has been charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Officials said Michael John Nelson, 24, turned himself into the Hardeman County Sheriff's Office on January 14th.

Officials said on January 10th they obtained arrest warrants for Nelson. The warrants came on the heels of a three month long investigation by the Texas Rangers.

The court ordered a $100,000 bond on each count of sexual assault of a child. The court also issued a $5,000 bond for the possession of a controlled substance charge.
