Accidental School Shooting Suspect On Probation

Students and parents are recovering from a scare at a Los Angeles high school.  An accidental shooting  injured two students, one of whom is in critical condition.  Police say the suspect, a 17-year-old boy, already has a criminal record and is currently on probation.  Now he's facing a new charge of assault with a deadly weapon.

Police say the boy brought an automatic pistol to class in his backpack and when he set it on a desk, the gun fired.  Officials say the teen was a special ed student at the school.  It will be up to the district attorney if the shooter is tried as a juvenile or adult.

Investigators say the teenager was able to get the handgun inside the building because the high school only does random metal detector checks.
