Rider's Cortny Pritt Signs with Vernon College

After being named District 4-4A Libero of the Year and Class 4A Second-Team All-State in her senior year at Rider High School, Lady Raider libero Cortny Pritt signed a letter to play Volleyball at Vernon College on Wednesday.

Pritt led the Lady Raiders to the playoffs with a 5-7 record in district play, 20-14 overall.

Now she will join Valerie Armstrong's Chaparrals team that already has a strong Texoma flavor. The team features Hirschi grad Shicole Washington, Henrietta grads Courtney Perry and Allison Whitehead, and Vernon grad TiSierra White.

She said that Vernon's proximity to home was a big factor in her decision.

"It really helps that it was close to home, 45 minutes away," said Pritt.  "And also it's a two-year college, so I can go to MSU my third year, or go off and play D-1."

She added that Coach Armstrong was also a big draw.

"I like Coach Armstrong. She's awesome, and I'm ready to play for the team," she said.
