Fire Crews Battle Major Grass Fire in City View

Multiple agencies responded to a massive grass fire in City View shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday.

The fire sparked near City View Dr. and Kiel Rd. Firefighters fought high winds as well as the flames. Officials said the blaze moved through mesquite trees and across fields as it spread to Reilly Rd.

Over 10 units from Wichita Falls, City View and Iowa Park battled the flames for hours. The flames were extinguished by 6:30 p.m. Fire officials said crews will remain on site throughout the night to watch for flare ups.

Crews from Oncor were also at the site performing work on power lines.

Fire departments across Texoma responded to multiple false alarms due to blowing smoke from the massive blaze. Officials from Electra and Burkburnett said winds blew the smoke for miles prompting the calls.
