Man Charged In Disappearance Of Lubbock Teen

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Police say they've charged a 45-year-old Lubbock man with aggravated kidnapping in the case of a Lubbock girl listed for weeks as a runaway.

Lubbock police Capt. Greg Stevens says the search for Lubbock Monterey High School student Elizabeth Ennen has now changed from a runaway investigation to a kidnapping case.

Stevens said Saturday he knows of no leads to her whereabouts, despite the charge against Humberto Maldonado Salinas Jr. A message left for Stevens Sunday wasn't returned.

Police say Ennen apparently was abducted during a Jan. 4 baby-sitting job at a southeastern Lubbock motel. Family members tell the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal Salinas was a close friend of Ennen's mother.

Salinas is in Lubbock County Jail with bond at $250,000. No attorney is listed on Salinas' jail record.
