Body Found Likely Missing Teen

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Police say they are almost certain a body they found along a roadside belongs to a 15-year-old Lubbock girl that went missing.

Lubbock Monterey High School student Elizabeth Ennen was listed for weeks as a runaway. Police found the body on a remote county road near Shallowater, about 10 miles northwest of Lubbock while searching for the teen.

Lubbock police Capt. Greg Stevens announced today that the medical examiner's office in Lubbock was expected to officially identify the body Monday evening, but investigators are nearly sure the body belongs to Elizabeth. He also said there are no missing persons who "meet the description of the body we found" and the clothing on the body is "more than quite similar" to what the teen was wearing when she went missing. Police say Ennen apparently was abducted during a Jan. 4 baby-sitting job at a southeastern Lubbock motel.

Police are obtaining a murder warrant for 45-year-old Humberto Maldonado Salinas Jr. He remains in Lubbock County Jail, charged with aggravated kidnapping in Ennen's disappearance. Jail records show he does not have an attorney.
