MSU's Tanner Gets Pre-Season Award

MSU Senior Pitcher/Designated Player Brittany Tanner was named the LSC North Pre-Season Pitcher of the Year Wednesday in the league's annual pre-season poll.

Tanner was 22-3 in 2010 with a 1.58 ERA and 214 strikeouts, both numbers good for second in the LSC, throwing six shutouts as the Mustangs went to the Super Regionals before bowing out to Angelo State.

The Burkburnett High School graduate also batted .275 in 2010 with three home runs, five doubles and 22 runs batted in.

The Mustangs have also been picked in the same poll as the favorites to win the LSC North once again. MSU received 14 of a possible 16 first-place votes for a total of 109 points in the poll. Central Oklahoma (87 votes) and East Central (72) each received one first-place vote.

The Mustangs open up the season one week from Friday (February 4) in the Grand Canyon University Invitational in Mesa, Arizona, just outside Phoenix.
