Texas Governor Rick Perry says he's pleased with the passage in the Senate of a bill that would require voters in Texas to show a state ID in order to vote. Perry said in a statement that he is pleased that lawmakers are quickly addressing the issue. He said he expects the House to act just as quickly on that measure.
We spoke with first term District 69 State Representative Lanham Lyne about the voter ID issue. He plans on voting for the bill which is now in the House.
Representative Lyne said, "Having identification is important I think in that process. You know we have to show IDs for just about anything else. Cashing a check or picking up a package, or getting on an airplane. We don't complain about that, and I think on something as important as voting I think you should have an ID."
