High School Basketball: WFHS Gets Road Sweep

The Wichita Falls Coyotes needed a win at Little Elm to help their playoff positioning. They started the night a half-game ahead of the Lobos.

DJ Jordan scored 15 points to lead Old High to a 68-49 win, improving them to 5-2 in District 4-4A. That puts them three games ahead of 5th-place Rider (2-5), with five games to play.

The Lady Coyotes also got a win at Little Elm, getting a season-high 18 points from Danielle Randolph in a 45-34 win. Carolyn Taylor had a big night on the glass, with 20 rebounds.

The Lady Coyotes improve to 5-4 in district, 18-6 overall, staying a game ahead of 5th-place Denton.

Hirschi Boys Rebound vs Hawks

The Hirschi Huskies bounced back from their first District 6-3A loss of the year to beat Iowa Park 64-45 and take sole possession of second place in the district.

Terry Fields led the Huskies with 18 points, all in the paint, and 10 rebounds. Freshman Terrance Cooper added 15 and 10 for the Huskies (15-10, 4-1).

Corey Bennett led the Hawks (14-11, 3-2) with 22 points.

In the girls game earlier, the Lady Hawks pulled into a second-place tie in the district with a 55-36 victory over the Lady Huskies.

Amanda Fuhrman had 17 points for Iowa Park (13-13, 4-3) and Whitney James added 14. Camille Lee led Hirschi (1-6 in District) with 15.

City View Sweeps Henrietta at Home

The City View Lady Mustangs beat Henrietta at home 48-38 behind 17 points from Skyler Patterson. The Lady Mustangs are now 4-5 in district, while Henrietta is 0-10.

Then the Mustangs got a 53-45 victory to improve to 3-5 in District 9-2A. Henrietta falls to 1-7.

Wichita Christian Sweeps Amarillo Ascension

The Wichita Christian Lady Stars upset Amarillo Ascension Friday night, 25-24. Matty McGee scored 12 points to lead the Lady Stars (2-4 in TAPPS 1-A) over the Cardinals (5-2).

Then in the boys' game, Billy Iseman scored 14 points, Brent Holsberry scored 13 and the Stars defeated the Cardinal boys 50-33. The win improves WCS to 7-11 overall, 3-3 in TAPPS 1-A.

Seymour, Archer City Split Pair

Seymour visited Archer City in District 10-A play.

The Lady Panthers got a win, beating the Lady Cats 51-24. But the Wildcats got payback, defeating the Panthers 45-42. Cole Sitz scored 12 for Archer City in the win, which moved the Wildcats to 5-1 in district.

Seymour fell to 2-4.
