Wichita County Sheriff's Office Getting More Weapons

The Wichita County Sheriff's Office is becoming better equipped to keep you safe.

This morning Wichita County Commissioners met and approved the purchase of four assault rifles costing around $3,100 to be paid with forfeiture funds. They will also buy six new tasers paid for with stimulus money and from the 2009 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistant Grant.

Commissioners also approved the replacement of the x-ray machine at the County Courthouse entrance, that could be replaced by March first.
