Suspect Accused Of Kidnapping Jaycee Dugard Ruled Competent

Jaycee Dugard's accused kidnapper will go to trial.

A judge found Phillip Garrido competent to stand trial.

Prosecutors couldn't proceed with the criminal trial until Garrido's sanity was decided. His attorney had been fighting to get his competency hearing postponed but the judge denied his request.

He and his wife are charged with kidnapping 11-year-old Dugard in 1991 and holding her captive until 2009.

Garrido's arraignment is scheduled for later this month. He's also accused of sexually assaulting Dugard.
