Texas Governor Plans To Eliminate 4 State Agencies

The Texas governor has a big speech Tuesday that could make big changes to state agencies.

His State of State address will be this at 11:00 a.m.

Officials say Gov. Rick Perry will ask lawmakers to indefinitely suspend funding to four agencies. Funding for the Texas Historical Commission, the TexasCommission on the Arts, the Board of Professional Geoscientists and the Board of Professional Land Surveying all would be eliminated in his plan.

An additional 21 agencies would be consolidated into 11.

The proposal would save would save about $50 million in state revenue.
