Finalist Named for Hirschi Head Football Coach

From WFISD Athletic Director Kenny Catney:

"The Wichita Falls ISD has named [its] lone finalist for the Head Football Coach / Athletic Campus Coordinator at Hirschi High School.  Upon WFISD Board of Trustee approval at the February 15th work session, Cody Slater will be named to this position.  More information will be released once Mr. Cody Slater has been official gained employment within the WFISD."

Slater is an Olney native and MSU graduate who has coached at Hirschi, Petrolia, and his hometown Olney High School, as well as at 5A Arlington Sam Houston HS.

He spent his first year as a head coach this past season, leading Miles to an 8-4 record and the Class A Division II Area playoffs, earning the Bulldogs their first playoff win in over 40 years.

He walked on as a football player at MSU from 1994-97 after playing one year of baseball at Tarleton State.

Neil Searcy stepped down at head coach of the Huskies in December after five seasons at the helm, with a record of 13-38. Seven of his 13 wins at Hirschi came in his first year, 2006; his teams went 6-32 in the four years since.
