Same-Sex Couples Used Valentine's Day to Demonstrate

There was a push for same-sex marriage on Valentine's Day.

Gay couples showed up at county clerk offices across the country to apply for marriage licenses.  Their goal was to push for equality, as part of the February Freedom to Marry Month activities.  There were demonstrations in California, Texas and in other places.

Texas law defines marriage as between a man and a woman.  In 2005, Texans approved a state constitutional amendment banning same-sex civil unions and marriages.
