High School Softball: WFHS, Rider Each Win Two in Tournaments

The Rider Lady Raiders bounced back from a rough opening-night loss for a pair of wins in the Fort Worth Christian Tournament.

Rider defeated Justin Northwest 4-1 in their early game behind 15 strikeouts from Abby Donnell and a solo home run from Karly Gibson.

In the second game, the Lady Raiders blew out Fort Worth Paschall 15-2. Taylor Beeman went 3 for 3 with a double and a run batted in, and Samantha Hislop, on her first day back from basketball, went 3 for 4 with two doubles and a run batted in.

WFHS Sweeps Two Games in Mineral Wells

The Wichita Falls High School Lady Coyotes also bounced back from a lopsided season-opening loss, taking a pair of games at the Mineral Wells tournament.

The Lady Coyotes beat Glen Rose 6-2 on the strength of a two-hitter by freshman pitcher Delaney Bedunah.

Then sophomore Brenna Bachman went a step or two better, spinning a no-hitter as WFHS shut out Stephenville 3-0.

Both teams continue play in their respective tournaments Friday.

    A six-run seventh inning lifted No. 12 West Texas A&M to a series sweep of Midwestern State Sunday afternoon at Schaeffer Park with the Lady Buffs scoring the winning run on a throwing error in the infield to rally from a five-run deficit in the final frame for a 9-8 victory.
