HS Softball: Iowa Park Beats Holliday at Home

The Holliday Lady Eagles struck first, but the Iowa Park Lady Hawks laughed last Friday afternoon in Iowa Park.

Holliday scored on a Michelle Townsend triple and a Brittany Thompson sacrifice fly in the third inning, but Lady Hawk pitcher Peyton Helton settled down to strike out 12 Lady Eagles.

Helton also went 3 for 3 with a double in a 5-2 Lady Hawks victory.

The two teams will meet again Monday in Holliday.

WFHS Wins Two More in Mineral Wells

It was a second straight successful day for Wichita Falls High School softball.

The Lady Coyotes won a pair of games in the Mineral Wells Invitational, beating Fort Worth Castlebury 10-0 and Childress 7-0.

Delaney Bedunah went 1 for 2 and Brenna Bachman threw a no-hitter for the second straight day, with 8 strikeouts for the Lady Coyotes.

Rider Also Dominant

The Lady Raiders took a pair of wins Friday in the Fort Worth Christian tournament.

First they defeated Irving 9-1 behind 13 strikeouts from sophomore Abby Donnell, who also added a 2-run inside-the-park home run in the win.

Then they beat Aledo 12-5. Samantha Hislop launched a towering 3-run home run to center to lead the Lady Raiders (4-1).

Tournament play continues Saturday.

Somehow tying US Open record with final-round 63 wasn't totally satisfying for Tommy Fleetwood; he wanted a 62.
