On Opening Day of High School baseball in Texas, three Texoma teams took the field.
At Hoskins, the Hirschi Huskies walked off with a 6-5 win over City View.
The Huskies jumped out to a first-inning 1-0 lead before allowing three in the second inning and one in the fourth to fall behind 4-1 entering the home half of the fifth.
Hirschi scored 4 times in that inning to take the lead, highlighted by three-straight two-out RBI singles.
The Huskies took the 5-4 lead to the top of the seventh, and got the first two outs before pitcher Shi Bailey allowed a walk to the Mustangs' Jarrett Rangel. Rangel then stole second and third base, coming home to score on a wild throw to third.
Hirschi catcher Connor Parrish, whose error allowed the tying run to score, atoned first with a diving catch of a Taylor Chapa foul popup behind the plate.
Then Parrish atoned even further in the bottom of the seventh.
After a Joe Barron leadoff walk and a stolen base, Parrish laced a line drive to left field to score Barron with the game's winning run.
The Burkburnett Bulldogs opened their 2011 season at Henderson Field against the visiting Mineral Wells Rams.
Canon Cornelius got the Bulldogs out to a fast start in the bottom of the first inning, doubling home Austin Parkey to give Burkburnett a 1-0 lead.
But the game would go to extra innings, and Mineral Wells left town with a 6-3 win after nine innings of play.
