HS Soccer: Rider, WFHS Boys Win After Slow Starts

Wichita Falls High School and Rider's boys soccer teams will meet up Friday night at Memorial Stadium for the first time this year, but first they had to get past district opponents Tuesday night.

The Coyotes got off to a slow start at McNiel Field against Gainesville, scoreless until the final minutes of the first half, when Rene Rivera headed home a Diego Saldana cross to put them up 1-0.

They added three more second-half goals, from Jose Lugo, Miguel Rodriguez and Carlos Hernandez, for a 4-0 win.

The #2 Raiders also scored just one first half goal before scoring four more in the second half for a 5-0 victory over Decatur at Memorial Stadium.

The Raiders are now 13-2-2 on the season heading into their meeting with Old High, Friday at 5 PM at Memorial Stadium.
