The Midwestern State University Women's Soccer team will have a distinctly local flavor to it in 2011.
Already featuring a total of five Wichita Falls players last season, and after already signing Rider's Katy Catney earlier in the month, MSU added four more local players Wednesday.
Wichita Falls High School seniors Tori Shannon, Payton Fookes, Amber Garcia and Taylor Holden all signed letters of intent at the WFHS athletic building.
Shannon is the backstop for a Lady Coyote team that has allowed just three goals so far in 17 games this season.
She is the defending District 9-4A Goaltender of the Year and Head Coach Rob Woodard called her the best goalie in the state of Texas.
Taylor Holden is one of the core players of the defense that has helped Shannon to her stellar 16-1 mark in 2011, and was first-team all-district in 2010.
Amber Garcia is a solid member of the Lady Coyotes' midfield who was also first-team all-district last year.
Forward Payton Fookes, also first-team all-district in 2010, is the scorer of the bunch. Despite facing almost routine double-teams she still leads the team in goals scored, including a hat trick Tuesday night at Gainesville.
