City Of Burk Helps Out Their Boys & Girls Club

The city of Burkburnett is helping out their local Boys and Girls Club.
During the February Freeze the club sustained major water damage when water pipe broke. Executive Director Sharon Bankhead says the initial solution was to conduct the program in the local elementary schools. "We were granted permission to send our staff into the schools so that the children would continue to be served." But they wanted a more permanent solution as they waited four to six weeks for repairs to be completed on the club. That's when they went to the City of Burkburnett and asked to use the Community Center. Their request was approved.

Beginning Monday, March 7th all participants in the After School Program will meet at the Community Center located on Davey Drive adjacent to the Friendship Park. Transportation will be provided from the local schools to the Community Center.  Hours of operation will be from 3pm to 6pm Monday through Friday. Parents can pick up their children at the Community Center each day.  "Once again, we would like to thank the City of Burkburnett for allowing us to utilize this facility to serve our children. It is great to be a part of a community that cares about our most precious resources...the kids!," commented Bankhead.
