Education budget concerns continue to mount Texoma. School board members with the Burkburnett ISD are meeting to discuss the budget concerns across the district.
According to Superintendent Danny Taylor, Burk ISD is looking at a 9% cut and they're estimating that to be around $2.5 million. The district will discuss options to address the state revenue shortfall. The district has been under a hiring freeze since October 2010.
The ISD is also offering early notification incentives for those employees wishing to retire. The incentive is $1,000 and the deadline is today. They say as of 2:30 this afternoon, the district saw a total of 22 employees turn in the letter.
