HS Baseball: Electra Edges City View

The Electra Tigers beat the City View Mustangs Monday night by a score of 4-3 at home.

City View jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning highlighted by an RBI single by Bill Powers that drove in Jarret Rangel.

But in the bottom of the inning, Electra's Austin Borton drew a lead-off walk, then Joe Rey Quinones was hit by a pitch.

The next batter, Tyler Coats, laced a base hit to left that found the gap and allowed both runners to score, with Coats reaching third base.

Coats came in to score on a groundout by pitcher Nick Simms and give the Tigers a lead.

The Mustangs tied the game back up in the second inning, but the Tigers scratched one more run across for the win.

The Tigers will next host an interstate matchup against the Bombers of Frederick, OK on Friday, while the Mustangs will be in the JC Henderson Classic in Poolville from Thursday through Saturday.
