HS Baseball: #2 Windthorst Escapes Hoskins with Win

The #2 Windthorst Trojans jumped out to a quick start and held off the Hirschi Huskies for a 5-4 win Tuesday night at Hoskins Field in Wichita Falls.

The Trojans got a 2-run home run in the first inning from Jacob Johnson, and built a 4-0 lead through an inning and a half, but the Huskies struck for 3 runs in the bottom of the second inning to cut the lead to a single run.

In the bottom of the ninth, with the Trojans clinging to a 5-4 lead, Hirschi had the tying run thrown out at the plate, and Windthorst escaped with the victory.

The Trojans will move on to host a tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society, this weekend at Trojans Field.

Hirschi will compete in the Bells tournament this weekend.

Rider Beats 5A Guyer

The #10 Rider Raiders went down to Denton to face former District 5-4A rival Denton Guyer, who has since moved up to Class 5A, and came away with an 8-4 win.

Ben Smith earned the win on the mound.

Gage Green (2-run double) and Cameron Allen (2-run triple) led the Raider offense.

Rider improved to 4-2 on the season, heading into the Burleson tournament this weekend.
