Burkburnett Rallies Late for Payback vs Kennedale

The #9 Burkburnett Bulldogs trailed most of the way Wednesday night against #4 Kennedale in Jacksboro.

But when it mattered most, the Bulldogs were at their best, as they rallied from a ten point deficit through three quarters to upset the Wildcats 76-71.

They advance to the Region I-3A Semifinals, where they will face #1 Lubbock Estacado Friday night at 7:00 PM at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

The Bulldogs will face the Matadors in the regional tournament for the third straight season, having lost each of the last two years in the semifinals.

Friday will be a chance to prove that the third time is the charm.

Wednesday night, Jerard Graham led the Dunkin' Dogs with 19 points, while Mario Garcia added 17, including the go-ahead jumper in the fourth quarter.

Derrell Gibbs, the lone remaining player from the Burkburnett team that lost to Kennedale in the 2008 State Final, scored 11 points.
