HS Hoops: All-State Girls, All-Region Boys and Girls Announced

The TABC all-state girls basketball team is out, with four Texoma girls making the list, all in Class A Division II.

Two players each from the Throckmorton Lady Hounds and Newcastle Lady Cats were named All-State.

For Throckmorton it was seniors Shelby Ash and Preslea Worrell, who led the Lady Hounds to the Regional Quarterfinals, where they fell to Newcastle, who had Kimberly Bell and Hailey Kramer, also both seniors, named to the team. Newcastle was Regional Finalists.

On the All-Region lists, starting with 3A boys, three Texoma players were honored, two from the State-Finalist Burkburnett Bulldogs.

Seniors Derrell Gibbs and Jerard Graham were each named All-Region I-3A after leading the Bulldogs to within a minute of a state championship.

Also, Hirschi sophomore Marcus Foster, who led the Huskies to the Region I-3A Semifinals.

There were five more Texoma honorees in Class A. In Region II-A Div. I, Olney senior Reed Mankins, who carried the Cubs to the state top five for most of the season, was honored.

In Region II-A Div. II, a pair from Throckmorton, Cole Balthrop and Tucker Brown, led the Hounds to the Regional Semifinals where they fell to Bronte.

From Region III-A Div. II, Henrietta Midway's Ethan Cafagna, who averaged nearly 22 points and an area-best 18 rebounds, and Prairie Valley's Kieren Pae, who led the area in scoring at more than 24 points per game, both made the list.

Moving to the girls' All-Region teams, from the big schools two Texoma ladies were honored.

In Region I-4A, Rider's Sammie Hislop took the honors after sacrificing some scoring to help the Lady Raiders to their first playoff appearance in 20 years.

Burkburnett junior Macy Cooke is on the region I-3A team after leading the Lady Bulldogs in scoring at over 14 points per game and being named District 6-3A Offensive Player of the Year.

In Class A, nine Texoma girls were named All-Region.

In Region II-A Div. I, Seymour's Tayler Barrington and Petrolia's Sam Nason were both selected.

Down in Region II-A Div II, in addition to the four players named All-State, who were named all-region as well, two more were honored. They were Throckmorton junior Elizabeth Foster and Crowell sophomore Kaney Rhodes.
