City Baseball Roundup: #10 Rider Keeps Rolling

The Rider Raiders are red-hot.

The tenth-ranked team in Class 4A knocked off District 4-4A rival Denton Ryan 3-1 Friday night in Denton for their ninth straight win.

Ben Smith was the man of the night for Rider, going seven strong innings on the mound, allowing just one run on three hits, while striking out 13 Ryan Raiders.

Smith also helped out his own cause from the plate, going 2/3 with a solo home run that put Rider on top 1-0 in the second inning.

Rider improves to 16-5 overall on the season, despite playing just one home game so far, and 3-0 in district play.

They will have a week off before hosting The Colony next Friday night at Hoskins Field.
