Unemployment Figures In For Local And State

Unemployment Rates are dropping for both Texas and the community of Texoma.

For February 2011, the State Unemployment Rate dropped just over 8%. The Texas Workforce Commission says the professional and business services industry rose last month as companies add about 14,500 new jobs. Figures show the state's lowest rate stood at 4.8% in Midland, TX.

Jobs are piling up in Texoma as well. The 2011 local numbers show a .4% drop in the unemployment rate for Wichita Falls since January, and a .8% drop from this time in 2010.

Numbers in North Texas also dropped .7% since 2010 and .4% since January 2011.

Nationally, the unemployment rate for February rested at 8.9% for February.
